Lesson 3 of 3
E-E-A-T and Building Trust
stands for Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness and Trustworthiness. It is a framework from Google’s Search Quality Rater Guidelines that describes what high-quality, trustworthy content looks like from a human evaluator’s perspective.
Experience means the content reflects real first-hand experience with the topic, not just summarized research. Expertise means the author genuinely knows the subject. Authoritativeness is about the site’s reputation in its field. Trustworthiness covers things like clear authorship, accurate information, transparent sourcing and a secure site (HTTPS).
Practically, this means: put real author bios on your pages, link to credible external sources, make sure your content reflects genuine knowledge rather than AI-generated filler, and keep your site on HTTPS. These signals matter more and more as Google gets better at distinguishing genuinely helpful content from content written purely for rankings.
Reviews and testimonials are one of the most visible Trustworthiness signals, especially on a homepage. A star rating, a review count, or a few real testimonials tell both visitors and AI tools that other people have vouched for you. If you already have reviews anywhere - , Trustpilot, Yelp, a Facebook Page, G2, or an industry-specific site - show a rating or count on your homepage and link to that profile. If you have no reviews yet, a free is usually the fastest place to start collecting them.
